Neighborhood Watch
(3X22)
Move over Kensi and Deeks! Meet the new suburban IT couple on the block… Justin and Melissa! The buzz over this episode since the trailer came out has been incredible. I thought Twitter was going to explode today with all the excitement! Everyone is waiting for the long awaited shipper moment between these two characters and the question is: will it thrill or disappoint Densi fans out there? With a heavy handed finale coming up, the producers wanted to have a fun and enjoyable episode before facing the dramatic ending of Season 3. What better way to accomplish that but to send Kensi and Deeks undercover as a married couple?! Most of the time the two agents come off sounding like a married couple anyway, so why not use this incredible pent-up sexual energy for comic relief? Even Shane Brennan admits it’s probably the funniest episode they have delivered in the entire history of the procedural show.
We definitely get some new insights into the partners as they go undercover to oust a Russian sleeper cell deep in suburbia. In an interview with E! Online, Eric Christian Olsen admits this episode will find Densi discovering a lot about each other. “I think the best version of a relationship as it matures is two characters that are kind of discovering each other and themselves through that relationship, and this is a good example of that. Every episode has elements of that, and obviously some are more light-hearted, but even in those we put our defenses down and you see who these characters are at the end of the day.”
I’m happy to announce that Christina M. Kim (Lone Wolf) has written a rip-roaring script to bring a smile to all of the show’s fans. There was a little something for everybody. And first time NCISLA director, Robert Floria does a great job behind the camera as well.
Watching Kensi and Deeks pretend to be married was a delight. Even when they were alone, the undercover couple played it over the top in order to convince whoever may be listening that they were loving newlyweds. Deeks walking through the house calling for his Honey Bear made all Densi shippers out there scream with glee. And what about that kiss!?
According to Brennan in EW Online, the long awaited Densi kiss will have some far reaching effects for both of the characters: “Personally, I think Deeks is the one who is a little more unsettled by this and carries something into future episodes. We have the kiss, and he seems to be the one who is more affected by it than Kensi. But if you look closely, you’ll see Kensi is also affected by it.” More like totally embarrassed by her feelings for Deeks. Gotcha Kensi! And Deeks wants to talk about it too!
Kensi finds that she enjoys the way the other half of the world lives and could almost imagine herself living the American dream with 2.5 kids, the white house and picket fence. Of course Deeks is willing to make her dream come true and even though he is teasing there is a hint of truth behind his jest. I think ECO and Daniela really enjoyed finally having a chance to let their alter egos express their inner feelings for each other. You can tell they were enjoying themselves.
Sam and Callen had their old married couple moments as well tonight to rival Densi. (Sam: This is exactly what I’m talking about! Callen: I don’t know what you mean.) Love cranky Callen! And poor Eric….he’s just trying too hard. But I have confidence he’ll figure Nell out eventually.
I know there was a story line going on behind all the fun but who cares! I just enjoyed the Densi moments immensely. Yet… Rob and Bob? Really? And speaking of which….how many times did Deeks say ‘really’ tonight? I lost count. Really.
Best Lines of the Shows:
• Deeks: Don’t you have a jacket or something? I don’t need the whole neighborhood checking out my wife……Martha Stewart my a..!
• Deeks: I actually prefer my tea in a bottle vacuum sealed in America.
• Bob: (to Deeks) I’ll hook you up with some muffins! (I bet you will!)
• Deeks: (about Cody) He’s going to need therapy.
• Callen: Is that a fanny pack?
Nell: Yeah, he said something about being method.
• Kensi: Is that a fanny pack?
Deeks: No it’s a brosack!
• Hetty: Don’t beat yourself up Mr. Deeks. Hobbs probably had you marked the moment you put on that brobag.
• Kensi: What is my bra doing in your sock drawer?
Deeks: I plead completely innocent but totally intrigued.
• Deeks: You got techno blaring, there’s blood running through the entire house. It’s like an episode of Dexter in here!
Let’s face it….it’s all about the DensiWatch!:
• I loved Hetty’s intimate undercover talk to Kensi and Deeks about their feelings while working undercover. Kensi may be laughing a bit too loud to hide the truth? My Aunt Hetty definitely warned me about her.
• Kensi cleans up nice as a suburban wife, doesn’t she?
• Really enjoyed the bathroom scene. Deeks was so silly teasing Kensi: I’m walking away but doing it slow enough so you can come after me. You want a little bit of this action? Come and get it!
• Oh Deeks definitely has his own thing going on! Did you catch Kensi giving Deeks’ thing the once over? LOL!
• And the sex dungeon? Someone’s been reading Fifty Shades of Grey!
• Kensi and Deeks describing what they were wearing the first time they met in Season One was just so sweet.
We had a chance to interview guest stars, D.C. Douglas (Rob) and Gabriel Stuttle (Cody) and both said they had a great time on the set and thoroughly enjoying working with ECO and Daniela. To read both interviews in their entirety go to NCISLAFan (http://ncislafan.blogspot.com/). Come back next week when I review the final two hour episode of the season - Sans Voir. See you then on NCISLA Rewind!
