Welcome back to NCISLA Rewind! I haven’t been this excited about a new show since The Debt! Here we have another chance to explore what makes Densi click and maybe take them one step closer to that shipper relationship we all covet. This two part episode has been highly anticipated by all fans since the first hint that the creators were finally going to explore Kensi’s family history. Tonight’s episode was written by perennial favorite, Joe Wilson who along with Jonathan Frakes brings to the screen a dramatic and nail biting first-parter! It’s great to find Frakes back behind the camera again (Ok, I admit it. I had a fan girl crush on Number One since his glory days on Star Trek the Next Generation!). Together with Joe Wilson, he was able to balance just the right amount of tension and angst in this long awaited episode.
So what do we know so far? Well, the seeds of this show were planted back when Kensi visited the crew of Hawaii Five-O at the beginning of this season. Every since then, the writers occasionally threw in references to the visit but it wasn’t until Assistant Director Granger came onto the scene that the action really escalated. Last week’s cliff hanger had my heart ship a beat when Granger finally identified his real reason for stalking the NCIS team….Kensi! So we finally know how Kensi’s dad died which is heartbreaking for her but could she be the serial killer involved in the deaths of her father’s sniper unit? She knows her dad could never have died like that. Granger is accusing Kensi of joining NCIS just so she could track down her father’s killer. The team is incredulous and Hetty is pissed…at Granger’s accusations! But it seems if he’s right, Kensi’s action could bring down the whole team!
As the team searches for evidence to prove her innocence, I for one couldn’t wait to watch Deeks (to quote Shane Brennan) running behind, trying to stop her from destroying the things that she cares about!
As Daniella Ruha told EW.com, Kensi was definitely going to be put to the test and become isolated from the team as she becomes the center of investigation: “She’s definitely confused when she’s given certain news in the beginning and she tries to put it together — she’s still an agent no matter what. She wants to crack the case. But at the same time, she’s extremely emotionally attached to this case, which can cloud your judgment sometimes,” she says. “There’s a very fine line between an assassin and someone who kills as an agent. There’s a fine line between revenge and doing something you have to do.”
So what's the real story with Kensi's dad? She finally finds out he was part of a black ops team put together to eliminate threats to American security or in other words he’s an assassin. The worse is that Kensi feels betrayed. Who can she turn to and what can she believe in now? All that she believed in the past was a lie. But what game is Granger playing?? Obviously, more answers to come with next week’s conclusion.
Nooooo, you can’t leave us like this! Kensi! Kalstein was right… there will be blood!

Best Lines of the Show:
Kensi: So you’ve never been dumped?
Deeks: What part of never don’t you understand?
Kensi: I don’t believe you.
Deeks: Well that’s understandable considering your track record. But honestly, look at me. How could you break up with this? I’m super fun and 365 days of heaven!
*******
Nell: Focus Beale you got this! (As long as we’re talking about believing in partners!)
*******
Deeks: Did you guys ever think about getting a sedan? A nice mini van with one of those sliding doors?
Sam: Did you ever think about walking?
*******
Deeks: I found something!
Callen: What are you one of the Hardy Boys?
Sam: More like Nancy Drew.
*******
Deeks: I’m a Detective. I detect!
Highlights of the Show:
• I don’t know if Granger could get any creepier! I just hate that it was all directed at Kensi. But the girl holds her own! I can’t wait to see the guys going after Granger!
• Ooooh Hetty is beyond mad and I wouldn’t want to be Granger right now! But I loved when she promised Deeks she would take care of Kensi. Still protecting her baby chicks.
• Just as Hetty was caring for Kensi….Kensi couldn’t tell Deeks everything because she was protecting him. Wow! To quote Eric: I’m not liking the sound of this! What could be so bad she couldn’t tell Deeks?
• The smirks on the boys faces after they found out Kensi escaped was priceless
AND.....It wouldn't be a Joey Wilson episode without a little BOOM! Huh?
Deeks Moments:
• We always love to see Deeks turn up on Kensi’s doorstep. The poor guy is hurting but his belief in Kensi is beautiful. Always with the jokes. And the note segment is classic Deeks and oh so sweet:
Deeks: I realize this is the point in the conversation when I say something profound and life affirming so I actually came prepared….Everything is going to be fine. It seemed longer when I was writing it. It probably sounds better in Latin. It’s more profound if I said…but you’re laughing so it probably worked.
• Ah come on, Callen let Deeks ride shotgun! It’s me and you against him? That’s how it works. Really, Callen?
• Don’t you just want to hug Deeks when Hetty tells him he has to bring in Kensi?
Densi Watch:
Well, it’s finally out (and in front of Nell)!:
Deeks: Just to clarify, if anything happens to Kensi, you’re going to be dealing with me for the rest of to be your very short life.
Harris: Does your boss know about you two? You’re either lying to yourself or hiding fron it. Either way son, it makes your job harder. Yep, we know that Harris, we’re just always hoping for that happy Densi ending. Did you see Deeks’ face!
Daniella probably gave the most insight into the Densi relationship in another interview this week. Not that it really clears anything up, but there’s some movement in the right direction. And that’s always a good thing:
I think it is a relationship like two human beings who are really attracted to each other but know it probably would not be a healthy thing for anyone, especially their jobs, if they got together. So, there is definitely an attraction. I think over time, they have gained this unconditional care for each other, whether that be brotherly or sexual or romantic or just friendly. Regardless of that, they care for each very much so much so that every time something happens to Deeks or to Kensi, the other one steps in immediately and tries to help them and tries to get the rest of the team to help them. We will never leave our partner behind. It is not just the principle. I definitely think they have a love for each other, whatever kind of love this may be.
What other kind of love is there between these two? We at Densi Central know the answer to that question!
Could it get any better after this first-part? We’ll find out with the next week’s episode written by Dave Kalstein who never disappoints. Stay tuned guys!
So what did you think of Blye, K. - Part One? What are you looking forward to next week? What would you like to see happen? Let’s see how close Dave gets! There were a lot more great lines and highlights. So add them to this review and let me know your thoughts….See you next week!

Good news!
ECO confirmed today on Twitter than he and Daniella will be doing another commentary for one of the Season 3 episodes. Obviously it was such a hit with fans, the dvd producers decided to bring them back for an encore. I'm kind of hoping THIS WILL BE THE EPISODE! Would love to know what was brewing inside their heads when they had to play some of these scenes together. Oh, the angst! Of course, if it is anything like last year's commentary, these two won't be able to stay serious for long!
